Fitness for Musicians

As a result of perfecting their art many professional musicians experience debilitating pain from the overuse of certain tendons and muscles.

It is important that they seek help immediately from a sports injury specialist, physio therapist, or other specialist, in muscle and tendon injury. If the problem is not corrected it can mean the end of a career and or income.

When an area of the body is used repeatedly the muscles build and strength becomes more prominent in one part than another. The same applies for flexibility. The end result is a body structure that becomes unbalanced resulting in poor muscular performance and pain.

There are some very simple exercises that if done regularly, will assist in maintaining proper muscular balance and strength. Muscular fitness programs must be continued to ensure physical maintenance. When a program is discontinued the muscles and tendons will again become vulnerable to future injury.

To play an instrument well you will require coordination, mobility, stamina and a good physical fitness level
